The 1000 Speak Movement is really a personal decision you make to do something to contribute toward the good in this world via compassion. You can do anything to contribute to that any time of the year. If you post what you’re doing to our Facebook group, we’ll do our best to share your work.
February 20th is our anniversary day, so we try to do something every year around this time, but due to everyone’s busy schedules, it’s more of a February 20-ish that takes over the second half of February and the first half of March.
We usually discuss details of what we are doing in our Facebook group that you are more than welcome to join.
How to get beyond complacency or apathy to find compassion in times of division, and how to be compassionate towards people we disagree with, without condoning cruelty.
If you do not have a blog…
We realised that there were a number of children who wanted to participate, but who didn’t have their own blogs to write anything on (and for some parents, having their child post on their blog wouldn’t be possible due to the content of the rest of the blog) so we created this space where we can share kids’ posts and the posts of adults who don’t have their own blogs.
As such, we require that all submissions to this site be suitable for all ages to view, as we anticipate that the next generation will want to see their own work and that of others – it is important that this space remain safe for them to do so freely.
If you have a child who would like to join their voice to #1000Speak, or you don’t have a blog and would like to participate, you can submit your story to 1000Speak@gmail.com. Posts will be published and shared on social media on the 20th of each month. Make sure you check back to see your story published here on the 20th!
